October 2016 marks our 5th Anniversary. Celebrate with us and enjoy this video of our amazing journey.
Our beginnings … In Oct. 2011, 8 parents went on a train to NYC to attend a NCLD luncheon. On that train ride, we shared our stories, our struggles, our heart breaks and our frustrations and anger about trying to help our dyslexic children and getting nowhere within our public schools. No one was from the same NJ town, but we all had similar stories. We were virtually strangers to each other. By the end of the day, we declared that someone should do something to help other parents like us and to fix the system. We decided that collectively, maybe we could be that someone.
Our group is made up of parents of children who are dyslexic. We are not experts, nor are we a business or educational organization. We can only offer other parents the benefit of our collective experiences. We encourage parents to meet with their local policy-makers to tell the story of their child, and ask for policies and/or legislation to identify and support dyslexic children in our public schools.

We have created a Facebook Page, Evening Parent Workshops and a Parent Networking Session after our monthly business meeting to give parents a variety of ways to connect with one another and share experiences, ideas, and resources.
Since our inception, parents from other states have contacted us about starting a Decoding Dyslexia group in their state. We are happy to announce the Decoding Dyslexia family has expanded to all 50 U.S. states and internationally too. Each state group has a FaceBook page and many are adding websites quickly. Search FaceBook or the internet for a Decoding Dyslexia group in the following states or Click on this link to our National Decoding Dyslexia website, which will take you to any of the state groups’ Facebook pages/Website: http://www.decodingdyslexia.net/dd-states.html
