We had a great time at the LDANJ Fall Conference last Sunday. Met lots of wonderful parents, students, educators and professionals! Our Parent Roundtable session was a success and parents and experts both agreed it was very inspiring to talk with each other in that casual and organic way. We hope to do it again in the Spring! Decoding Dyslexia - NJ

Our NJ dyslexia screening law states that if a child has 1 indicator of dyslexia and is in kindergarten thru 1st semester of 2nd grade (before the end of the 2nd marking period of 4 marking periods), then the child needs to be screened.

The law does NOT state WHO has to be the one to point out that indicator and ask for the screening. Therefore, that means the parent, teacher, speech therapist, OT, grandparent, administrator, etc. are all able to start this process. The law also does NOT LIMIT which indicators qualify.
